Robert is a Veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard. He was a member of the 324th Military Police Company and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. While in Iraq, he was the oldest of the MP’s serving on Convoy Missions throughout Iraq.
His fellow soldiers, gave him the name “Uncle Bob”
Since his return home in 2004, Robert has been faced with a new battle. His days are challenging and filled with the complications of Irritable Bowl Syndrome, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Heart Problems, Chronic Pain and more.
Over the years, he began to fear leaving the house because of these complications.
In 2017, during his nightly ritual of browsing YouTube, he discovered that other Irritable Bowel Syndrome suffers were using backpacks to enable them to leave the home without worry. So, he made his own Backpack and he carries it everywhere he goes! It has been lifesaving for him and provides a new sense of comfort and security.
OMI is asking for your assistance in supplying eligible veterans with an Uncle Bob Backpack!
Robert has grown and altered the items he keeps in his backpack over time, but below is a list of suggested items.
Single Roll of Toilet Paper
Travel size hair brush
Finger Nail Clippers
Imodium AD Tablets
Make up remover
Make up brushes
Finger Nail File
Service-connected disability rating with the Department of Veterans Affairs
